Harvest Festival Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th April


The Canberra District Wine Harvest Festival will be happening this coming weekend and we will be open 10 am – 5pm both days. At 11am and 2 pm each day Brian will be giving a talk on winemaking. You will have the opportunity to look at the grapes maturing on the vine, learn how we assess whether or not they are ready for picking, see hand plunging of a vat of fermenting wine and perhaps get a sneak preview taste of one of the 2014 wines which has already finished primary fermentation and have been basket pressed but which is not yet in the barrel.


You will also been able to enjoy a Tapas Plate for Two with 2 glasses of wine $20. To avoid disappointment, please reserve your tapas by emailing us or by phoning 0409780861.

Harvest Festival Launch – A. Baker


We will be participating in the launch of the festival outlined below:


A select handful of Canberra District wineries will be heading to A. Baker on Thursday 3rd April giving an exclusive preview of what’s in store for the 2014 Canberra District Wine Harvest Festival! Winemakers will each select a couple of their top wines for you to taste and enjoy! The underground bar in one of Canberra’s newest hot spots A. Baker in NewActon is the perfect setting to enjoy the finest wines with local produce and charcuterie.

2014 Vintage


The 2014 vintage is well underway with most varieties already in the winery and at various stages of the winemaking process. This year we have processed Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Merlot and Shiraz Viognier. At this stage, the winemaker is very happy with the colour and flavour development in the wines! We are yet to pick the cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc grapes for the 2014 Trio blend. These are both later ripening varieties and need to hang on the vines a little longer to fully develop their baumé and flavours. We are hoping the weather remains kind to us – warm and dry!!


Reviews etc


You may have seen Chris Shanahan’s review of our 2010 Trio in the Canberra Times Food and Wine section a few weeks ago. He rated it three and a half stars which means somewhere between “enjoyable and true to style – don’t mind if I do, and, a beautiful wine that pushes all the buttons”. We were reasonably happy with this rating, knowing that Chris is not a particular fan of Canberra District cabernets.


You may also have seen that in the Winewise Champion of Champions taste off, our 2008 Shiraz Viognier, whilst not winning a trophy, rated highly among other Canberra District Wines – a true gold medal wine and holding up extremely well with time.
