Dear Friends of McKellar Ridge Wines
This is our first newsletter for 2015 . We hope you will find it interesting.
Vintage 2015 - a great one!
Vintage 2025 is shaping up to be one to remember. A warm spring lead to early flowering which resulted in an earlier than usual vintage. The mild summer followed by a warm dry autumn was ideal for grape ripening so the quality of fruit has been excellent with a good balance of sugar and acidity together with excellent flavours. The colour development in the reds has been stunning. Most varieties are already in the vats with only the Cabernets still to come in. At times like this we are reminded of the quote in the cellar door, "Making good wine is a skill. Fine wine is an art" (Mondavi) - an art we are aspiring to.
Members of the McKellar Ridge Wine Club have received their March allocation and are enjoying a mixed case of current releases. If you would like to become a member, email us and we will ensure that you also receive the March allocation. Benefits include two mixed cases a year (March and September) at cellar door prices less 10% and free delivery in ACT, NSW and Victoria.
If you are looking for an outing over Easter or have friends visiting, come on out. The cellar door will be open Saturday and Sunday.

We have had a number of pleasing reviews and high ratings for our wines.
2013 Shiraz Viognier – Canberra Times
“Canberra winemakers could hardly believe their own good luck with the near perfect 2013 vintage. It followed a run of tough years, notably the cold, wet 2011 season and cool 2012. As it turned out, even those years produced some decent wine. But the warmer 2013 vintage made riper, fuller reds, some of extraordinary dimension. McKellar Ridge sits at the more robust end of the district style spectrum, offering ripe and vibrant red-berry varietal shiraz flavours with a slight hint of apricot from the tiny viognier component. At this stage, spicy French oak stands a little apart from the wine flavours but I suspect the rich fruit will gobble up the oak as the wine matures.” Chris Shanahan Food And Wine, The Canberra Times, Wednesday , February 11, 2015
