Cellar Door Reopens
After a timely winter break and a short escape to warmer climes we are looking forward to reopening our cellar door next weekend (Sunday 29th). We will have a number of new releases to show you that we are quite excited about including
2014 Shiraz Viognier: an intense wine with an aromatic red cherry aroma, the palate is deep and long with dark red fruit flavours, complemented by toasty French oak characters and spice.
2015 Rosé: a blend of 70% merlot and 30% shiraz grapes which has produced a crisp, refreshing Rosé with an intense plummy middle palate and spicy finish.
2015 Sauvignon Blanc: a new wine for us, it has a floral nose with fruity flavours and it finishes crisp and dry.
We have just listed on Trip Adviser so we would encourage you to be the first to go on line and write a review for us. Post some photos too if you would like to.
Wine Club members will receive their Spring mixed dozen in mid September. For those who would like to become members of the club, email us and we will send you the membership form in time to register for the Spring delivery. Benefits of Wine Club membership include free delivery ( ACT, NSW and Victoria) of a mixed case of our current release wines in Spring and Autumn each year and 10% off all wines purchased at the cellar door throughout the year.
The popular Murrumbateman Moving Feast is coming up again soon, so put Saturday 3rd October and Sunday 4th October on your calendar. Get some friends together and come on out. We will be open both days from 10 am – 5 pm
New Restaurant listings
We are pleased to advise that you will be able to find our wines in some additional Canberra restaurants: Courgette has our 2013 Shiraz Viognier and Muse, a new cafe/bar/restaurant in the East Hotel, Kingston, has our 2013 Pinot Noir available by the glass.
We were very pleased with the scores that our wines received in the latest 2016 Halliday Wine Companion released in July. All the wines we submitted were rated “Highly Recommended” with scores of over 90 points. The reviews are reproduced below:
Canberra District Riesling 2014
Piercing Riesling, apple, citrus and slate softened at least in its early-drinking appeal by floral nuances. Powerful through the finish. Suggestions of in-built complexity. Even at this early stage. 94 Points
Canberra District Pinot 2013
Highly perfumed, spearmint and choc-mocha with clear musk-like notes. Palate is on the light side of medium weight, delicate with cherry and mint but with an elongated, finely structured finish. Over the mid-term at least, this has a future. 91 Points
Canberra District Rose 2014 (Sold Out)
Style and substance. A clear savouriness but invitingly fruity too. Earth, Turkish delight, assorted summer berries, spice. Light crimson-pink colour. More-ish to say the least. 93 Points
Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2013 (Sold Out)
Full-bodied, especially in a cool climate context. Slick oak on savoury fruit, five spice and liquorice with dark cherry, mint and a general toasty/chariness. Leaves nothing behind. Fires both barrels. And succeeds pretty well in all its ambitions. 92 Points
Canberra District Trio 2013 (Cabernet blend) (Not yet released)
Stringy herb notes, powerful blackcurrant up front before dipping through the mid-palate, despite the blend of varieties. Finishes tannic and dry but with a return to more flavoursome times. Will not fall over any time soon; patience required. 92 Points
We look forward to seeing you when you next visit the cellar door. Feel free to pass the Newsletter on to your wine friends.
